DONALD LEPPER

INDIANOLA FIRE DEPARTMENT
END OF WATCH: FEBRUARY 23, 2020

ON THE MORNING OF SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23, AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM A GRAS FIRE, FIREFIGHTER/EMT DONALD "DONNY" LEPPER COLLAPSED. HE WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO THE THE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OF MCCOOK, WHERE HE WAS PRONOUNCED DECEASED. 
DONNY SPENT 25 YEARS WORING FOR LORD'S OF INDIANLOA AND 24 YEARS AS A MEMBER OF INDIANOLA FIRE AND RESCUE SQUAD. HE ENJOYED PLAYING POOL, SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL, AND THE OCCASIONAL CARD GAME OF PITCH. HE ACTIVELY ASSISTED WITH THE OLD SETTLERS PARADE AND THE FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS DISPLAY. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ST. CATHERINE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH OF INDIANLOA. THROUGH ALL OF THIS, DONNY REMAINED ACTIVE IN HIS COMMUNITY AND MADE MANY CLOSE FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES. IN 1997, HE MARRIED TAMMY SAVACOOK AND TO THIS UNION TWO SONS WERE BORN, ANDREW AND NICHOLAS.
