David Dorn served 38 years on the St. Louis police force before retiring in October 2007. He then became the chief of Moline Acres, a small town in St. Louis County. 

Dorn and his wife lead the St. Louis police department's Explorers program for youth interested in a career in law enforcement. 


He was dedicated to youth, especially disadvantaged youth.  He had a personality that was bigger than life. He wanted to see them succeed. He wanted to be a role model for those young men and women to go into law enforcement. 


David died protecting a friends pawn shop during violent protests in St. Louis.


He leaves behind his wife, St. Louis Police Sgt. Ann Marie Dorn
